Surge is made up of indigenous leadership from the 9th Ward and New Orleans East, built by men who know the community because they come from it.
Surge Ministries is led by men who were once mentored through Desire Street Ministries in downtown New Orleans and have now returned to serve the next generation.
These leaders are graduates of Carver High School who went on to college, built families, and came back with a shared commitment to restore mentorship, rebuild structure, and invest in the future of the same communities that shaped them.
Together, they bring more than 40 years of combined mentorship and community development experience.

We plan to develop after-school support environments that provide structure, enrichment, mentorship, and academic encouragement.

Javon Ronel provides strategic leadership and direction for Surge Ministries. As Chairman, he helps guide the organization’s long-term vision, partnerships, and program alignment, ensuring that Surge continues to move with clarity, purpose, and measurable impact.

Kedrick Levy Sr. brings strong experience in mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement. His commitment to helping young men grow through structure, accountability, and guidance supports the mission and day-to-day strength of Surge Ministries.
