Born out of a passion for social and urban renewal, we focus on providing support, education, and opportunities to underserved populations. The leadership team behind Surge Ministries has deep roots in community transformation. These men were once part of the highly successful Desire Street Ministries, which revitalized the Desire neighborhood in New Orleans’ Upper Ninth Ward. Having witnessed and contributed to that remarkable success, they have now united to bring the same proven blueprint to the New Orleans East neighborhood.
With a strong commitment to faith and community, we provide a safe haven for at-risk youth, equip individuals with valuable trade skills, and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit within our communities. Our comprehensive approach includes educational programs, mentorship, vocational training, and community outreach, all designed to create lasting, positive change.

At Surge Ministries, our vision is to transform New Orleans East into a thriving, empowered community. We’ve recently acquired a 2.5-acre property with a 9,000-square-foot building, which is currently undergoing renovations to become a central hub for spiritual growth, education, and community support.

Founded on the impactful legacy of Desire Street Ministries, Surge Ministries aims to continue the work of spiritual and community transformation. After Hurricane Katrina disrupted the Desire Street community, our leaders, many of whom were personally touched by the ministry, came together to launch Surge. We are committed to renewing the spirit and infrastructure of New Orleans East, one of the city’s most distressed areas.
